The hype train for the next season of the CW's superhero line-up is starting to pull into the station. Though the season premieres of the newest slate of DC TV are still more than a month away, news and trailers are slowly beginning to pour in. On the CW's YouTube page
, two new trailers have been released. One covers the entirety of the line-up while the other is specifically targeted on Legends of Tomorrow
Why Black Siren Should Find Redemption on Arrow>>>
As for the trailers, the sizzle reel is more or less an extended version, with mostly brand new footage, of the earlier trailer promoting the new season.
There's nothing quite as noteworthy as the Legends
mini-crossover including Nate Heywood and Wally West but there's still plenty to get excited about in the footage.
Perhaps the most notable thing from the trailer is the larger presence of Barry Allen. Grant Gustin is still the lead of The Flash but previous trailers have downplayed Barry's involvement, due to the season 3 cliffhanger. Though the sizzle reel doesn't show the actual return of Barry from the Speed Force, he can be seen in costume with Wally as Kid Flash. There is also footage of Barry working at Central City PD, jokingly bragging about his large breakfast.
The other shows are also featured. With Supergirl, a date (which turns into a mission) with Alex Danvers and Maggie Sawyer can be seen briefly. This confirms that although Floriana Lima, who plays Maggie, will not be a series regular, her character will still be a part of season 3. Another fan favorite with some sporadic appearances on the show, Cat Grant, can be glimpsed and it appears she might be the President's new press secretary.
Arrow is most lightly featured of the bunch. The show still isn't revealing any more cards about the season 5 cliffhanger that could've killed most of the characters. One confirmed survivor, Dinah Drake, can be seen in her new Black Canary outfit.
As for Legends of Tomorrow, there's a lot more to dive into in the standalone season 3 trailer. It appears that Legends will fully embrace the wackiness of the notion introduced in the season 2 finale that time is "broken." Julius Caesar can be seen at a beach party and there's also a trip to the seemingly supernatural circus.
The trailer is also the first time that new hero Zari Adrianna has been seen. The first look at the Muslim-American character makes it seem like she will be just as sarcastic and snarky as has been promised. Zari asks if the team if they've saved the world twice, why does it still suck?
Tala Ashe as Zari will not be the only new arrival in season 3. As was mentioned, Courtney Ford has been cast in a recurring role for the season. Ford will first appear in episode 5 and she will be playing Eleanor, the daughter of Damien Darhk.
This will not be the character's first appearance in the Arrowverse. Darhk's daughter was first seen in Arrow season 4 as a young girl but then she was going by the name Nora.
The explanation for the grown-up Darhk daughter is, presumably, time travel. Legends of Tomorrow will also seen Darhk return as the main villain and it sounds like Eleanor will be working with her father. Eleanor is described as someone who looks very innocent but can manipulate people to her will and is always several moves ahead of everyone else.
Interestingly, Eleanor will also be a bit of a love interest for Ray Palmer. Ray will find himself drawn to Eleanor despite her evidently evil behavior. This isn't that surprising though as Courtney Ford is Brandon Routh's real-life wife.
Are you excited for the new season? Which new Legends character do you want to see more of now? Do you think Cat Grant has a job at the White House? How long will it take for Barry to return?
