The BAU heads to New York to investigate several brutal murders in Central Park in Criminal Minds season 13 episode 12, and these aren't the first of the gruesome nature there.

Check out a sneak peek of the case:

NYPD has called them for help after the body of a jogger was found in Central Park; the victim was disemboweled and his throat was torn out. Last month, another victim was found the same way. The wounds look like claw and bite marks from a large animal, and while no animals have escaped from the zoo, it's possible someone has an exotic pet and it's hiding somewhere in Central Park. Or could someone have trained a dog to attack on command?

The case reminds Rossi of one from 1997: two teens killed a man in the park in almost the same way, though they filled his body cavity with stones before throwing him in one of the lakes. Whether they're looking for an animal or a human, they're going to New York.

Get a look at a crime scene:

While the latest victim has a long rap sheet and had clearly just mugged someone before he was killed, the UnSub can't be a moral enforcer, cleaning the park of its bad elements, since another victim led a squeaky-clean life. Could the UnSub be a territorial vigilante, feeling like he's protecting the park, like it's his home? He may view park-goers as trespassers who need to be punished.
